Privacy Policy
Effective 15 October 2026
Convert with Convertly (formerly “Document Converter”) is an Android app for converting, scanning and editing documents. It is provided by KH Apps Collection (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what data the app handles and how.
In short: there is no account and no Convertly server. Your documents are converted, scanned and read on your phone and are never uploaded to us. We use Google Firebase to collect app usage statistics and crash reports, which help us improve the app.
Your files
- Processed on your device. Conversions, PDF tools (merge, split, compress, protect, unlock, watermark, organize, annotate, sign), scanning, text recognition (OCR) and the ID photo maker all run on your phone. The files you open and the results are not sent to us or to anyone else.
- Where results are stored. Converted files are kept in the app’s private storage on your phone, where only the app can read them, and are listed under Files. When you choose to, they are saved to your Downloads or Pictures folder, or sent to an app you pick with Share.
- Temporary copies. Files shared to the app, scanned pages and downloaded cloud files are copied into the app’s cache while you work on them. You can clear the cache in Settings.
- Your signature. If you draw a signature in Sign PDF, the last one is kept in the app’s private storage so you can reuse it. It never leaves your phone unless you put it in a document you share.
- Settings. Your preferences (theme, text recognition language, footer on PDFs) are stored on your phone.
Camera and photos
The document scanner is provided by Google Play services and the ID photo maker uses your phone’s camera app or photo picker. Convertly itself does not ask for the camera permission. It reads only the images and documents you choose, using Android’s file and photo pickers. Images are analysed on the device to find pages, text, faces and the background; this information is not stored or shared.
Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive
Connecting a cloud account is optional. When you do, the app asks for read-only access so it can list your documents and download the ones you choose to convert:
- Google Drive: the
drive.readonlyscope, through Google Play services. - Dropbox: the
files.metadata.readandfiles.content.readscopes. - OneDrive: the
Files.Readscope, with a personal Microsoft account.
The app talks to Google, Dropbox and Microsoft directly from your phone. File names, file lists and file contents go only to your phone and are never sent to us. The sign-in tokens are kept on your phone (by Google Play services, the Microsoft sign-in library, and the app’s private storage for Dropbox). The app cannot change, upload or delete files in your cloud storage. You can disconnect in the app’s Cloud tab, and you can also remove access at myaccount.google.com/permissions, dropbox.com/account/connected_apps or account.live.com/consent/Manage.
Google API Services User Data Policy
Convert with Convertly’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data from Google Drive is used only to show you your documents and convert the ones you pick. It is not used for advertising, not sold, not used to train AI models, and not read by people.
Information collected automatically
- Usage statistics (Firebase Analytics): which screens are opened and general app events, together with device and app information (device model, Android version, app version, language, country or approximate region derived from your IP address) and a random app-instance ID. It is not linked to your name or email address, and it never includes your documents or their contents.
- Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics): when the app crashes, a report with the technical details of the error, the device model, Android version and a random installation ID.
- In-app messages (Firebase In-App Messaging): we may show occasional messages inside the app, such as news about features. Firebase uses the app-instance ID to decide which message to show.
- Google Play services and ML Kit: the scanner, text recognition, face detection and background removal run on the device. Google Play services may download their models and may send Google basic diagnostic and usage information about these features. It does not include your images or the text recognised in them.
These services are provided by Google under the Google Privacy Policy and Firebase’s privacy terms.
How we use it
Only to run and improve the app: to understand which tools are used, find and fix crashes, and tell you about new features. The app shows no ads. We do not sell or rent any data and do not use it for advertising.
Sharing
We share data only with Google (Firebase and Google Play services) as described above. Files you send with Share, or save to your device, go only where you choose. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Retention and deletion
Files on your phone stay until you delete them in the app (Files, or Settings → Delete converted files), clear the cache, or uninstall the app, which removes everything the app stored. Usage statistics are kept by Google Analytics for up to 14 months, and crash reports by Crashlytics for up to 90 days. See the data deletion page for every option, including asking us by email.
Security
Your documents stay in the app’s private storage on your phone, and connections to Google, Dropbox and Microsoft are encrypted. Protect PDF encrypts files with AES. Keep your phone locked, as anyone who can use your unlocked phone can open the app.
Children
Convert with Convertly is a general document tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you, or to object to its use. Because the app has no accounts, we hold very little. Email us and we will help.
Changes
We may update this policy and will change the effective date above when we do. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
